Doug Free, a second-round pick in the 2017 NBA draft, could be the most important player to come out of the 2017 draft.
Free was the subject of trade speculation in the offseason and could be dealt at any time.
In the latest installment of The Lad’s Trade Tracker, I’m counting down the top 10 trades for each position.
Draft Doug Free.
The Lakers are desperate for depth on the wing.
Free, who is 6-foot-10, could provide a veteran presence to the Lakers’ young core.
He can shoot 3s, has elite length, and he can rebound.
He’s the kind of player who could be an asset for a playoff team.
Free’s value will likely be realized at a better price than any other player in this trade, but I think he’s worth the trade.
Free is the ideal player to land in this scenario, as I would be very interested in trading for him.
Free could also be a good fit for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they have some cap space and could have the cap space to sign him.
Trade Doug McDowell.
The Philadelphia 76ers traded the rights to veteran forward Doug McDowds to the Los Angeles Clippers for the rights of second-year forward Doug Mac.
This was the trade that was most intriguing in my opinion, as it would have allowed the Sixers to draft a player who was not available.
The Clippers are currently sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, and if they don’t improve quickly, they could fall to the bottom in the standings.
McDowell, however, is a player that could be a valuable piece for them.
He has great size and length, which could allow him to become a valuable role player on their team.
I think McDowell is worth the risk of the trade, and the Clippers will have to make a tough decision on trading him.
If they decide to take the chance on McDowell and he is traded, it will likely cost them another pick, so this trade will probably have to go through.
Trade Tyler Ulis for Chris McCullough.
The Minnesota Timberwolves traded the right to draft Tyler Uli to the Brooklyn Nets for the right of second baseman Chris McCullohs.
McCullough is a solid defender who can play center field and shortstop.
He could play center in Minnesota, where they are currently in the rebuilding phase.
He is not a great offensive player, but he is still a valuable asset.
McCulloh is a very good athlete who is very strong and can play every position on the field.
I would expect him to play a major role for the Timberwolves this season.
Trade Marcus Thornton for Jeremy Lamb.
Marcus Thornton was the top pick in last year’s draft, and Jeremy Lamb was the second pick.
Lamb is a talented big man who could help the Timberwolves improve defensively.
Lamb can play either shortstop or center field, and his athleticism will allow him the ability to play the position if needed.
Lamb’s price tag is probably too high, as the Timberwolves have already had to deal with free agents and injuries to both of their starting infielders.
Lamb could be able to bring some defensive help to the Timberwolves in the form of a veteran defender, and this trade could bring in some draft capital for the Wolves.
Trade Julius Randle for Tyler Uliss.
Julius Randles name has been a hot topic in the NBA trade rumor world.
It has been rumored that the Suns and Celtics are trying to acquire the big man.
However, the Suns have been a perennial playoff team for a few seasons now, and they may be willing to part ways with their top two picks in the draft in order to acquire him.
The Celtics may not want to take a chance on Randles because of the injuries they are suffering at the position, but it would be a huge risk to let the team that drafted him fall into the same fate.
I expect the Suns to be more than willing to move down for a player like Randles, and it would not be surprising if they make a move for him in the future.
Trade Chris McCulloghs for Marcus Thornton.
Marcus Thorburn was the best player on the Wolves roster last season, and Marcus Thornton is the second-best player on this roster.
McCullogh is a good defender and can provide a solid defensive presence on both the infield and shortstop positions.
The Wolves have struggled at the plate this season, but McCullogh will provide a nice upgrade on the infield, as he will help to help stabilize the outfield defense.
Trade Luke Ridnour for Marcus Murray.
Luke Ridnanos value was not the highest on draft day, but Marcus Murray is a valuable player in the 2016 NBA draft.
Murray is an excellent athlete who has a nice frame, good speed, and a long swing that makes him a very effective hitter.
He will help the Wolves defensively
